Unicorn filming

After being away far too long, I was back to spend two days making the long-awaited ’Last of the Unicorns’ film with Years 3-5. The children had spent some time with another Creative Practioner on story telling, had prepared scripts, brought in props and were ready to go!! After a short time getting used to the new cameras and software we were away to the meadow to film what will hopefully be an epic film. Back tomorrow to finalise all the missing scenes and edit up a  neat, polished version.

The sun even shone, kind of, for a while!!

Digital Photography Day

Tuesday 23rd February

It was cold (again), but that didn’t stop us venturing out into the meadow and around school to try and take photographs for this part of our project.

Talked about photography as being more than a holiday snap – looked at it as a piece of art. Years 3,4 and 6 went onto produce Photostories with their pictures, Year 6 even had a chance to do some image manipulation!

Year 5 in action

Staying Safe around school was the theme for Year 5. They shot some great film, edited well and had everything ready for the VIP assembly at 3pm. Good job!!

Back to it on a bit of a dull day in Wreay. 8 children working well to pick up the film making skills. They are busy planning the best way to show how they are kept safe in school.

A special assembly at the moment with the children finding out about how they can help children in Haiti.

Healthy School!

Some super films today from Year 3 and 4. Great help from Mr Milligan and our two student teachers (thank you!) Even managed to get them to play on your TV screen in the entrance hall – just need to work out how to get sound now!!

Year 3 and 4

Today the children are working on new skills ready to make a film about staying healthy. So far we have interviewed, run around in a very cold playground and pretended to eat a lot of fruit!

First session in school. The Year 6 have had a great day, soaking up the skills and techniques to make good films. All three groups worked really well together and produced fantastic films. Well done guys, well impressed!

What a day to be in Cumbria after the mighty Carlisle win the Northern Final to head to Wembley!!!!

The Last of the Unicorns!

A really exciting project at a beautiful school! KS2 children are going to learn the skills needed to make digital films, animate and take digital photographs to produce a multi media film all about their Meadow. A wonderful piece of land next to the school that will be developed over the coming months.
